why not do what all other ubuntu flavrours do and properly integrate
with apport and provide an apport hook here so the documented ubuntu
tool can be used there as well (the amount of code would be the same...
seeing your script) ?

after all a bug without any logs will get a request to attach the logs
anyway ... especially if you interact with the kernel or xorg teams like
you will have to do in the above case they will ask you for the
ubuntu-bug output nontheless ...
