Nautilus closes instead of minimizing?

Removing nautilus would not be a good idea, but reinstalling should be
ok, I am offering no guarantees however, particularly as your system
appears to be in an unhealthy state in the first place.

Sorry, I am out of ideas, other than trying reinstalling nautilus.
Something has become messed up but I have no idea what. The fact that
it appears that you are the only one ever to have seen this is
particularly unusual.
The only other solution I can propose is to start again, re-install,
check all is well, then add stuff and check regularly that all is
still well. Keeping notes of what you have done. Then if it goes wrong
again we will hopefully know what to do to recover the situation.
