I would agree that it would be better to run from a live DVD, but the
problem seems to be more sane related. Please note that I wrote "sane
related" because I can't believe that it is AMD related. After all I
mentioned my scanner problems in this thread already [1] and meanwhile I
also filed a bug [2]. To me the error message "Error during device I/O."
looks too much like the problems I have with my own scanner with 16.04.
With 14.04 the scanner works and Davids scanner also works on his 14.04
server.
Now, as it seems to be the same problem I had with my scanner, I would
suggest to install the sane packages from 14.04 instead of the 16.04
version on the Mint machine to see if that makes a difference.
