Take a look at

  Virtualbox > File > Preferences > General > Default Machine Folder

by default it's most likely

  $HOME/Virtualbox\ VMs/

and after that you need to search

  $HOME/Virtualbox\ VMs/perhaps/some/additional/path/some_name.vbox

it not necessarily is

  $HOME/Virtualbox\ VMs/virtualbox.vbox

You could also take a look at

  Virtualbox > Settings > General > Tab: Advanced

by default the Snapshot path most likely is the same path.

I suspect you need to close virtualbox, before editing this file with
an editor or virtualbox tool.

  [rocketmouse at archlinux ~]$ ls -hAl VirtualBox\ VMs
  lrwxrwxrwx 1 rocketmouse rocketmouse 26 Apr 11 22:13 'VirtualBox VMs' -> '/mnt/winos/VirtualBox VMs/'
  [rocketmouse at archlinux ~]$ head -6 /mnt/winos/VirtualBox\ VMs/winOS/winOS.vbox
  <?xml version="1.0"?>
  <!--
  ** DO NOT EDIT THIS FILE.
  ** If you make changes to this file while any VirtualBox related application
  ** is running, your changes will be overwritten later, without taking effect.
  ** Use VBoxManage or the VirtualBox Manager GUI to make changes.

Ralf
