Trying to open Different Flavors

I am using Kubuntu 16.04  64Bit . Because I was unable to install Ubuntu 
16.04  64*Bit* I was advised to use xelian/gnome or unity. I may have 
spelled xelian wrong.

I thought that the different files would show up in the startup login 
screen like in earlier versions. (a drop down on the bottom left of the 
log in band) I installed them with Symantic so I feel they are loaded 
correctly.
