There used to be lots of X servers for windpows, way back when I used
to run Windows NT4 as my desktop machine with an X server on it
showing my main Linux machine.

Well I don't see installing an X server being any more difficult than
installing other things *and* you don't have to do anything at the
Ubuntu end at all.
