No, the OP is not trolling. There are indeed 800*MB* available on /, but
there is also the fact that / is 90% full. The whole partition is 8GB
big.

So yes, the OP is running out of disk space. A previous email suggested
'sudo apt-get clean && sudo apt-get autoclean'. It is a good idea to
run them, and then compare the size of / (via 'df /', or 'df -h /'; the
last one will give out the data in "human readable form".

For current usage, 8GB for root is quite a small space for graphical
interfaces & generic usage. It would survive if other partitions were
used to mount /home and some other space-hungry areas, like /var.
