Hi,
Ubuntu-based Linux distributions aren't Ubuntu. In general I've got
concerns against distros, that try to provide Linux as a replacement for
Windows.
However, why not simply installing an Ubuntu flavour. I guess at least
XP users likely will be comfortable with Xubuntu and Lubuntu.
Do your friend a favour, provide an Ubuntu flavour.
Seemingly this Ubuntu-based Linux distribution is not that easy to
use as claimed. IIUC a post on the distro's blog, the distro enforces
donations, IOW users seemingly need to pay for it. Pay them and get
free as in beer support from another community?!
Ubuntu flavours are for free and Ubuntu has got a huge community. There
are other good free as in beer distros with a huge user base too.
Why not installing a "major" distro that is one of those user-friendly
distros known to provide averaged defaults that work out of the box for
the averaged computer user, with averaged needs?
If something special is needed, we likely could recommend something
special. How about Ubuntu Studio for art work?
Users should not care too much about environments that by default
provide flashy themes, icons and fonts.
Regards,
Ralf
