I just grabbed a new copy of that image and tried it on my test machine, an
ASUS X551MA. The UEFI doesn't see anything to boot. By comparison, the Wily
Werewolf desktop installer is recognized automatically, and has a visible
directory structure that lets the UEFI software construct a boot menu.

Ah... Well. I was confused by something, it seems. I hadn't realized that the
14.04 series ships HWE kernels by default. I just booted the 14.04.03 desktop
image under UEFI/SecureBoot and the live environment gave me the 4.19 (Vivid)
kernel, and I see that the server image gives me the Debian installer by
default, and also seems to have the newer kernel, at least in the install
environment.

I can't reproduce the network installer images working under UEFI here on
real hardware, but it seems like all my bases are covered with the default
server and desktop images regardless.

Two dangling threads... The following docs might stand to be updated:

    https://help.ubuntu.com/community/Installation/SoftwareRAID

If I get a chance I'll spin up an account and update that.

Next, it might be worth Canonical revisiting the network installer images on
real hardware, as folks who need them for some reason and need to run on
SecureBoot or UEFI might be stuck. I am not bandwidth-constrained, so the
server installer solves my problem, but it's worth mentioning.

Thanks for the help and pointers! I'm looking forward to rolling some of this
out.
