I don't really use Flash at all, since much of the Flash material these
days are ads, and I block most of those. But I can't say I recall
having any problems with installing the updates.
Since you are on Debian, have you tried deb-multimedia? There is a
repackaged version of the Flash plugin there, that might work better
for you. But this is really a problem you should take up in a Debian
forum, as it is off-topic here. There was a looong thread on Flash on
the debian-user mailing list that started 03-Aug-2015 - check the
archives, it has quite a few tips on getting it working and might help
you.

Open "about:addons", click "Plugins", see if Shockwave Flash is set to
"Ask to Activate". If it is, try "Always Activate".
There is also a setting in about:config that's called
plugins.click_to_play, but I can't tell you how these two settings
interact. It should probably be set to "false" if you want autoplay,
though.
