ubuntu 14.04 runing slow

It is a ATI chip set where do I get the software I try to use the drivers installer but it wouldn't let me change it

What graphics chip?

Do you have the proprietary ATI Catalyst drivers for it installed?

Unity is slow as hell without hardware OpenGL 3D acceleration.
