power failure when office is open:  Server shut down manually 
when staff is able.  Phone system (which is fairly low draw) 
stays available for a long time.

power failure when office is closed:  Server shut down by apcupsd 
after about 5 min.  Phone system shuts down when UPS shuts down.

I missed the part about problems with data integrity.
