Unattended, unintended system shutdown - why?

Yeah, sparks coming out of electrical devices is never a good sign.  
Could be as simple as a bug (literally) in the works, if you were able to 
get it all working again.  

Or am I misunderstanding the rest of your comment, and it's still shot?
