Sound card not working?

I'm going to be really interested in this.  It sounds a lot like what I'm
working on right now.  It started on an MSI mobo, but I just replaced it
with an ASUS Z97 Deluxe, which also gets no sound.  Odd since booting to
Windows results in sound just fine.  I'm still gathering info, or I'd say
more.
