It looks like the error is with the Intel i915 graphics (drm - direct
rendering manager) on your system.

Even though some people report that new kernels solve the problem, many
others are still wrestling with the lockups.
This link from Ubuntu forums provides a possible workaround:

Poster suggests switching to a older acceleration method (from newer "sna"
to older "uxa".
Also, if this is an upgraded machine, you may want to verify that the
installed versions of the xorg packages are correct.
