Attached, 230 bytes. Interfaces.d is empty. That is the exact same file
this machine uses, a copy of it in fact but set immutable as is
/etc/resolv.conf, a link to run/something, link removed, and a real
resolv.conf made immutable put in its place. I can't take out
networkmangler as its deps would kill the system. but I can damned sure
block its idiotic actions, but the pauses that seems to cause during the
bootup are intolerable. If that thing had 4 arms & hands, it still
couldn't find its ass with any or all of them. This entire network here
at the Heskett ranchette is hosts file based, no dhcp allowed or used
anyplace.
I have taken a couple screenshots to show what I am saying about synaptic,
and while I was at it, tried a ctl+g, and a ctl+G, no response to either.
The second shot also shows the forced reinstall of synaptic, and what you
see in the first shot is the re-installed version.
The screenshots are in Genes-os9-stf/Mint17-pix on my web page in the sig.
When synaptic was run from that terminal, the 2nd shot shows a widgit
error of some sort.
Unforch, my crystal ball that would tell me what that really means was
used for a bowling ball for years and is all scratched up.
I am downloading the Mate version now, to see if it will work.
Cheers, Gene Heskett
