DELL Poweredge 860, cant get NIC working

I have tried 10.04.02 Server edition (which is supposed to be certified the
the server) and 14.02.2 (which is the latest version).  Neither find the
network and lspci reruns no network card (for either).

The Dell spec sheet says the following under Network:

Dual embedded Broadcom Gigabit1 NICs 5721J;
Optional single and dual port Intel PRO/1000 PT Gigabit adapter (copper);
Optional single port, Intel PRO/100S;
Optional single and dual port Intel PRO/1000 PT (PCI Express);
Optional Broadcom NetXtreme™ Gigabit adapter

Any ideas?
