Ubuntu 14.04.2 VMware guest screen resize

Did they install correctly?

I don't use VMware much but in a half a dozen attempts to install the
VMware guest tools on Ubuntu and CentOS, they have never once
installed correctly and actually functioned for me.

(Q.v. why I don't use VMware much.)
