Figured it out Marius after doing some intensive Googling and looking on
Linuxquestions.org. For some reason I still had three dpkg processes
running when I upgraded my ClamAV. The install did not finish for some
reason. Killing the processes and running sudo apt-get upgrade
then ....-update finished the install and all is well now. I can now
turn my attention to bisection of a kernel to debug this 'Hangcheck'
issue.

Thanks for the reply and help
