Grub problem since update [solved]

Thanks Nils, that seems to be the problem. I followed your advice and
now the menu is back to what it was before the update.
I was in a hurry this morning when I had this problem. If I had thought
about it a little more I would have mentioned that 12.04 and 14.04 are
on separate physical disks, maybe that would have made the problem clearer.
