Nothing other than the use of panusb, in the past when password failed a third
time it meant been locked out and needing to use a live CD / USB to reset
(mkdir saveme, mount sda5 saveme, chroot saveme, passwd [name]), not the end
of the world but a PITA

not that I'm aware of (WiFi Kb so no lights to check)

can that be done without the password, or did you mean from a live USB?

My intent was to set up a pair of USB sticks to replace passwords (for user
level) and one for root that would also require a password, seemed simple
went through step by step, when I got to, test removing the USB, system locked,
as it should, but (a very big but) replacing it did nothing, entering the
correct password (the same one used to apt-get pamusb-tools a minute before)
did nothing, the second terminal opened before removing usb was also
unreachable, the only thing that would work was the menu shutdown
