This will work, if the hardware does not change too much. Additional
steps are necessary, if for instance one system uses BIOS booting
and the other system uses UEFI with or without secure boot. Disk
cloning is also not perfect, if you want to change the partitioning,
e.g. because the new system has a bigger hard disk or an SSD.
It's always a good idea to have an system and rescue DVD or USB
drive in case the new system does not boot with the old system
image. In most cases you also need an additional device to get
Internet help, if the new system does not boot.
