Skype problems revisited in 14.04-1

OK, after thoroughly screwing things up on 13.10, I just installed Skype
on a clean 14.01-1. The steps were:

- download skype-ubuntu-precise_4.3.0.37-1_i386.deb
- install it with "dpkg -i"

The result is below. My question is - should I bother trying to install
the various dependencies, or will I just end up (again) with an
inconsistent system?

There was no later version than the Precise one.

Has anyone successfully installed Skype on 64-bit 14.04? If so, how?
