Compiz/Skydome image

In 13.10, I had a JPG image that I set as the "Skydome image" in Compiz
(Compiz -> Desktop Cube -> Appearance). This image was the background
displayed behind the cube when it was being rotated.

In 14.04, when I set the same image, it appears very small in the middle
of the screen, slightly distorted as if on a curved surface, and the
rest of the background just smears (is not updated properly). The
rotating cube leaves traces of itself everywhere; only the rotating cube
itself and the Skydome image are not affected. The mess only appears
during actual rotation.

The image is 1680x1050 pixels, only slightly smaller than the display,
so why would it be displayed so very small? In 13.10 it was scaled up to
fill the display background during rotation.

Any ideas? Have I missed some related configuration?

Regards, K.
