I just looked up the specs (Asus SDRW-08D2S-U) and this one line:
"Record onto DVD-R (SL/DL), DVD+R (SL/DL), CD-R/CD-RW, DVD-RW and
DVD-RAM quickly"
As I say, Vista does open blank DVDs (-RW and +RW) but I don't have any
suitable Windows software to prove that the drive does write to DVDs.
