Hi,

Recently I helped my friend assemble his desktop computer. His
motherboard is the Asus H97 Pro. I installed Ubuntu 14.04 LTS on his
desktop computer.

Then I tried to plug in his Canon compact camera using a USB cable.
Executing "dmesg" shows that the Canon compact camera was detected. But
Ubuntu is unable to mount the USB mass storage device in the Canon
compact camera.

Subsequently, I tried to plug in his USB external harddisk. Executing
"dmesg" again shows that the USB external harddisk was detected, but
Ubuntu cannot mount the USB mass storage device.

Is this a Ubuntu 14.04 LTS bug? Because my friend told me he can mount
the Canon compact camera and USB external harddisk in Ubuntu 12.04 LTS.

Perhaps his motherboard is too new? It's using the Intel H97 chipset.

Thank you.
