i know it took quite some effort to  make all supported ubuntu desktops
work with the ibus 1.5 release (there should be threads about this in
the ubuntu-desktop mailing list archive), are you sure this is not
simply missing integration in Mints Cinnamon version ? did you ask on a
Mint mailing list ?
