Here's a link to a solution for Ubuntu 11.04

http://ubuntuforums.org/showthread.php?t=1661489

But at
http://askubuntu.com/questions/457668/ethernet-controller-not-working-on-new-dell-vostro-2520-laptopsolved
they followed the fix and it worked.

A bit old I should think but what do I know.

This looks more promising:
http://ubuntuforums.org/showthread.php?t=2244401&p=13122787#post13122787

Any thoughts?
