No network when docking

The log you sent shoes that Network Manager is doing it's job perfectly
- but cannot get an IP address on eth0. I don't think it is Network
manager's fault.

What exactly does it mean to "set it to docking"?

Not sure what kind of docking station it is, but if it's the
model-specific thing with a special connector, it probably disables the
onboard NIC.

That says three things:

a) the DHCP server is working fine
b) the onboard NIC (and associated config) is working fine
c) the network cable is OK

That pretty much leaves the docking NIC and/or whatever happens whe you
dock as the sources of the problem.

That will not help. Don't do that. You could try *restarting*
NetworkManager thusly after docking the laptop:

sudo restart network-manager

... but I have no idea whether it will help ;-)
