Firefox pasting from the clipboard

I've noticed that I'm unable to paste from the clipboard (using the middle
mouse button) to text boxes on webpages.  It works using Ctrl-v, in the
Windows manner.  Is there any way to configure Firefox so that it will
paste using the mouse?

I've got middlemouse.paste set as 'true' in about:config and I can paste
into the address bar.
