Found it!  Michel.  Many thanks.
Going blind these days. It has been there all the time but greyed out. 
As you pointed out, it activates only when you want message saved in the 
global account or, saved in another account.

I don't want either of those but for the moment it certainly removes a 
lot of the concern about one's mental prowess.

Both you and Falk suggested deleting the password and that worked. Many 
thanks to both.   Solution found.
