Did you hear that sound?  That was me hitting myself on the side of my 
head.  You're right.  I saw the request for info and immediately opened 
  a terminal. The only problem was I was on my desktop running (you 
guessed it) 12.04.

OK just fired up my laptop, here is the correct info:

Linux 3.11.0.17-generic #31-Ubuntu SMP Mon Feb 3 21:52:43 UTC 2014
x86_64 x86_64 x86_64 GNU/Linux
