Something's wrong there, then -- the nVidia drivers definitely include
hardware-accelerated OpenGL.
I really don't know -- never seen that -- but perhaps some supporting

Ah, the FOSS nVidia Optimus support thing. That /could/ mean that it's
defaulting back to the on-chip low-power GPU rather than the nVidia
one... Does this happen on the mains or on battery?
TBH I'm surprised Bumblebee worked if you /didn't/ have the nVidia drivers.
Could you experimentally remove Bumblebee & live without the power savings?
