GRUB_GFXPAYLOAD_LINUX doesn't work

Hello,

I installed Ubuntu 12.04 as a virtual machine in VMware Fusion with no errors.

I modified “/etc/default/grub” file to fix the resolution of the GRUB splash screen and Ubuntu adding the following lines:

GRUB_GFXMODE=1280x720
GRUB_GFXPAYLOAD_LINUX=keep

The splash screen get the right resolution but when Ubuntu is loading the resolution changes again.

Do I need correct any other parameter?
