I use Makemkv, and have been nothing but pleased with it. I think you
just need to spend a bit more time with that program to figure it out.
(with one exception, so far, the Expendables 2 BD had a very creative
way of messing with the rip software. I just downloaded that movie
instead.)
The movie should be exported into a single mkv. However, a BD disc has
many more videos, all of which will get exported to their own file,
unless you selectively choose which titles to export. (Previews,
specials, even the background used by menus are actually video streams.)
If I plan to keep it, I use Handbrake to re-encode the mkv file makemkv
exported, for space efficiency. That's purely optional, however.
