Slow Unity

When I used Unity, even on a pretty beefy laptop, I still tried to slim
down the effects as much as possible. Like some, I don't like the bling, I
just want things to open in a timely fashion and have the OS stay out of my
way. Here's something to try:

Tweak tool is pretty useful, but be careful with CCSM. Just follow the
instructions carefully, and you'll be able to reverse any mistakes or
instability issues. Unity is cool, but I've found other DEs a little more
responsive (currently running Xubuntu with whisker menu, for example). I
ALWAYS go back to stock Ubuntu with Unity, however, because I really want
it to succeed! :)
