How do I stop fglrx from updating?

I had updates for my Ubuntu 12.04 system. I cleared the check marks for 
Suggested updates, and the box for the updated version of fglrx which 
breaks my system.

It installed it anyway. I have to remove it and install an earlier 
version every time I update my computer.

Is there some way I can flag it so it won't update the video driver 
fglrx?????
