JIC, dconf is provided by dconf-cli.
I don't know how/why I didn't figure it out earlier but I tried again
and stumbled upon this almost immediately:
gsettings list-keys
org.compiz.unityshell:/org/compiz/profiles/unity/plugins/unityshell/
It's a PitA nonetheless. Perhaps because I don't understand gnome and
its settings as well as the person who came up with gsettings' obtuse
syntax...
FTR, the dconf equivalent of the earlier gsettings command is:
dconf write /org/compiz/profiles/unity/plugins/unityshell/ 16
