Of course. That's why renaming it was the first thing I did with it
(actually I copied it out of my home directory, then deleted the
original). Made no difference.

Yes, well - I did try, Maybe I didn't try hard enough. I haven't
retained the exact list of dependencies, but at one point some kind of
bluetooth module was being demanded. I called it a day.
I will wait until I've upgraded to 14.04, and see if Skype installs on a
clean slate.
