I don't think anyone here is going to argue with on that point.
But you said you had nothing with skype in the name on your computer,
you particularly mentioned conf files. To see if that was the problem
all you had to do was rename the folder.

Well that means that at last you have managed to remove everything
that skype depends on, so that is probably good. Can you not just
install the dependencies? I presume you are trying to install the one
from their website. Move the .Skype folder out of the way first.
