Gave up on reinstalling 13.10 and downloaded and burned copy of 14.04.
The good and the bad.
The 14.04 LiveCD booted up first try, no changes necessary.
The wireless connection is still so poor it is unusable.
The Netgear N900 WifFi Dual Band USB adaper I picked out of the bargin
bin at Walmart to try to get better wireless is still not recognized.
I choose the install option of "replace 13.10" or words to that effect
thinking it would leave my Win 8 partition alone, but it overwrote it.
No big deal the only reason Win 8 was there was if I decided to get rid
of the laptop it may have enhanced its worth. I made the backup disc's
so I can restore it if need be, I was just surprised at what happened.
What option should I have chosen to preserve Win 8?
Regards, Jim
