maybe you can use `aptitude why-not <packagename>` with gcc and g++ to get 
more information. I am unsure if it displays any informativ information as you 
have indeet installed a version of them. Thus it might be necessary to give 
some command line options... (I do not have a system in you state and thus 
cannot check myself)
