Failed update for ubuntu 12.04 LTS

That's a bit strange IMHO. Anyway, I suppose there is an entry for the 
CD in the file "/etc/apt/sources.list" for the CD image. Open the file 
as root with the command

gksudo gedit /etc/apt/sources.list

in a terminal and either remove the offending line or make it a comment 
by putting a "#" character at the beginning of the line. Then save the 
file and try the update again.
