thunderbird message backup

I backup the entire .thunderbird folder (cp -raf) and copy it back 
(same) BEFORE I run thunderbird for the first time after a dist upgrade. 
Chances are the version would be the same, after the dist upgrade, since 
mozilla upgrades at their own speed, not Ubuntu's. Not one hiccup so far 
over many upgrades, both clean or live. All of your folders and 
preferences and passwords all intact and ready to rock n roll like 
nothing happened. Ric
