No. Maté is a fork of GNOME 2, which was discontinued by the GNOME
Project when GNOME 3 came out.

They *had* to do this. If the package names were not all changed, then
it would be impossible to install Maté alongside GNOME 3. Also note
that the original developer of Maté is Argentinian, so he has chosen
package names that are names, puns etc. /in Spanish/ not in English.
