Yes, you can run 32-bit VMs under 64-bit Virtualbox. However,
obviously, 64-bit Virtualbox only runs under a 64-bit host OS.
So you don't need to install the 32-bit version of Ubuntu. If you
already have the 64-bit version working, just stick with it -
Virtualbox should run fine under 12.04/64. I used it extensively on
that OS myself, for guests running Windows XP, Windows 8, various
Linuxes, OpenBSD, Haiku & other guest OSes.
