Do you mean it says it has connected but then asks for the password
again?  If so that usually means that the connection has dropped out
and cannot immediately been re-established.  You said that it connects
using wpa supplicant but then drops out.  Are you sure you are not
just seeing the same symptom in both cases, so whether using wpa
supplicant or network manager it initially connects but then drops
out?
