gnome-keyring: upgrade/downgrade/upgrade/...

[ Ubuntu 12.04.3; gnome-keyring-{3.2.2-2ubuntu4,3.2.2-2ubuntu4.1} ]

Apparently, I've messed up the APT database(s).

After I (unsuccessfully) tried to remove 'gnome-keyring', all my "package
managers" (e.g., 'aptitude', 'synaptic', ...) are oscillating between
wanting to downgrade '*4.1' to '*4' and upgrade '*4' to '*4.1'.

In other words, if I upgrade 'gnome-keyring' to '*4.1' via 'aptitude',
the next time I run 'aptitude' it wants to downgrade the "keyring"
package to '*4'. After downgrading, the next invocation of 'aptitude'
wants to again upgrade it!

This repeats _ad nauseam_ :(

Does anyone have any suggestion to "get things right again"?

Thanks!
