My laptop starts up with incorrect screen settings

Did you update your xorg.conf file after making the corrections? Just 
maybe you are falling back to the same ole xorg.conf file when you 
restart? Under the Xserver Display Configuration tab, in the lower right 
corner is "Save to X Configuration File". Just select /etc/X11/xorg.conf 
and enter your passwd. Next time you restart, you should be good to go. 
You might try it with and without "twinview". I am assuming you are 
using one video card for two monitors? :) Ric
