Can you include the output of dmesg | grep wmi and lspci?
It may be a firmware issue, did it work before or is it a fresh install? My nc6220 is using the ipw2200 firmware and sometimes it goes rogue with a fw load error.
Anyway, some log output would be helpful to pinpoint the problem.
